Hi, we are Paul and Yvon Prehn, the couple behind Mobile Home Factory, Ventura. We are licensed Manufactured Home Sales Persons with the State of California. We operate out of our home office, which is what keeps our overhead costs low and which we pass on to you.
Actually, Paul is only in our home office when he is doing research on mobile home sales; he is usually out on a job site either overseeing a job in progress or interacting with clients, taking care of problems or answering questions. Yvon primarily camps out at the office, doing design work, answering the phone, doing paperwork, interacting on email with clients, park management, subcontractors, and manufacturers. This teamwork serves our clients well.
A little more history
We have been married for over 23 years and since the earliest days of our marriage have worked off and on together in construction and real estate. Early on we remodeled and sold homes together and that experience has been very helpful when overseeing a subcontractor who is trying to defend less than perfect work because I can honestly say to him, “Don’t give me that….I was doing (painting, finish carpentry, remodeling, etc.) before you were born.” Though we currently work with a seasoned team of subcontractors, we both know the construction business well and demand the best from the people we work with.
Paul was a bi-vocational pastor for many years and had his own handyman company where he did lots of work on manufactured homes. We eventually moved into a mobile home park (Lemon Wood in Ventura, where we still live) and he continued that work. This was invaluable experience as he learned what people needed in new manufactured homes that the most dealers and manufacturers didn’t include such as extra hose connections and electrical plugs on the outside of the coach. He also did finish work for new manufactured homes and worked with a number of dealers.
Later on we started investing in older mobile homes, fixing them up and selling them, but it was not profitable for us because we fixed them up too nicely to recover our
investment. But we liked the manufactured home business and this led to selling new homes. We both got our MH Salesperson license to do that.
Yvon then decided to become a Manufactured Home Dealer and this was a great learning experience. The training and testing is quite intense and detailed. In the course of this and our previous work as salespeople, we worked with many fine manufacturers: Fleetwood, Cavco, Hallmark, Silvercrest, Golden West, Redman and put in numerous beautiful homes for very happy clients.
However, being a Dealer also involved a lot of paperwork with the State of CA and Yvon didn’t like that and it took her away from the direct work with clients. We feel our best skills are working directly with clients and manufacturers. To do this we made a big change in how we do things. We are somewhat unique in this because of our extensive background and experience.
Yvon quit formally being a dealer and we current work with a Dealer of Record, the Mobile Home Factory. They do the paperwork for our homes and with the State of CA. They can also handle deals if a client wants to put a home on private land, which we don’t do and we refer clients to them outside of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties, which we also don’t do.
The other significant change we made is that we now only work with one manufacturer: Redman. CLICK HERE for more information on why, but briefly though all the manufacturers truly produce excellent homes, we feel that Redman provides the best value for the money today.
About our new home sales
When we can buy a lot at a reasonable price, (contact Paul Prehn, if you have one to sell or if you even want to talk about it, he knows what is going on at all the parks, current prices, etc. 805-766-6020) we will then put in a home and sell it. Once we get a lot, we work with an investor to put in a fantastic home. We carefully custom design it and oversee all the details of construction and set-up.

In the course of putting in new homes, we had clients come to us asking us to design a home for them and after doing that, we found we love this process. CLICK HERE to find out in more detail exactly how and what we do, but overall Yvon works with the clients to design and plan the homes and coordinates construction with the factory and parks. Paul oversees construction and subcontractor work and follows up on many maintenance issues and minor home problems the warranties don’t bother with.
